[ It looks like someone's set up a few training dummies in the field…
12th-Aug-2009 10:30 am
[It looks like someone's set up a few training dummies in the field just outside of the town. One of them seems to be in use right now... by none other than little Alexei. Looks like he's practicing a little. However, after slashing at the dummy a few times with a wooden sword, he puts it down and instead switches to an actual, albeit plain, sword and takes a step back.]

Let's see if this works... Apocalypse Toll! [And with that, he takes a quick slash at the dummy, tearing it a little... and making an energy sphere of sorts appear around it. A few seconds later, the sphere explores, ripping the dummy to shreds. A few larger pieces are still left lying around, but it's safe to say that that arte left it unusable.

...Nonetheless, Alexei doesn't seem impressed.
]

Still not good enough... [And with that, he moves on to the next dummy, switching back to the wooden sword so he doesn't break the dummy too early by slicing it apart with the actual sword.

Why not say hi? I'm sure the kid would enjoy having some company. Alternatively, simply claiming one of the as-of-yet unused dummies is fine too. Just... don't expect him to be nice if you do that.

[HEY BUDDY GUESS WHO. It's Moses! This time he's here with his giant galf. Giet is sniffing one of the spare dummies while Moses stares at the shredded one]

S'at eres?

[Hey, it's the territorial idiot! And... he has a pet with him this time? Huh. Keeping an eye on Giet; he still needs these dummies, y'know!]

"Eres"? No, I'm using artes. Or at least I'm trying to, but they're not working like they should lately... I think it's a problem with my bodhi blastia. [Which he's debating trying to fix. Can't exactly train using artes when that thing you need to rely on for them isn't working properly, after all.]

[oh! Blastia! We know that word!] Y'use blastia? Where'd you get yers?!
13th-Aug-2009 06:25 pm (UTC)
[Whoa, wait, he knows about blastia? Wow, maybe he's not as dense as Alexei thought.]

I got mine from my swordplay teacher. Being from the noble quarters probably helped as well. It's pretty crappy, though, although that's probably because it's intended for training and not actual combat. But that should be easy to fix by altering its formula a bit...

...I'm amazed you know about blastia, though. You don't really seem like the kind of person who'd be familiar with them. Do you use one too? [It's either that or someone told him what they are. Because clearly Moses is not the type of person to read about them...]

Nope! Yuri tol' me about them. Some sorta fancy old rock that lets y'do cool stuff, right? Me an' the gang are gonna go lookin' fer some!

[...Spoke too soon.]

Um... sort of. Blastia were created by an ancient civilization in my world, and with the right formula, it's possible to use them for a lot of different purposes. You could use one to power a fountain, or perhaps make a fully functional teleporter... or you could use a bodhi blastia to let you use special attacks called artes. Blastia are pretty useful, but there's not that many around, so they're in high demand.

If you're really going to go looking for some, maybe I can tag along? I've got some experience with how blastia work, so if we find any I could try to turn them into something useful. And I've got some combat experience, if that turns out to be needed. [No guarantee he'd make anything that would turn out to be useful for Moses and co., though...]

[As Alexei talks, Moses' expression seems more and more... somewhere else. By the time he even gets to artes, he's completely lost and staring blankly. Finally, at the end, he snaps out of it.]

Y'can make 'em work? Yer in!
18th-Aug-2009 08:23 am (UTC)
[...Note to self: do not explain things to someone who hates school. That just doesn't work out. But yay~ Now he just has to hope they actually manage to find a blastia... or maybe even some apatheia. Hm.]

Just keep in mind I can't make anything too incredible. I'm still studying what some formulas do, but making something like a bodhi blastia should be easy enough. [Well, actually, he's trying to figure these formulas out rather than testing what they do, but... that's beside the point.]

An' if those let'cha do artes, those're what we need!
19th-Aug-2009 09:16 am (UTC)
These are simple. All I'd need for that would be a normal blastia and something to fit it into, like a bracelet or necklace. The main problem is finding an usable blastia, considering that even in my world they're not that common, but I'm sure we'll find one.

Where's a good place t'look? Like... ruins 'r sopmeplace?
19th-Aug-2009 05:31 pm (UTC)
Mh. Blastia are usually excavated from ruins in my world, so it'd be best to check something like that first. But...

...Do we even have ruins here? I haven't seen any so far, at least...
19th-Aug-2009 05:46 pm (UTC)
[THINKING EXTREMELY HARD] ... Ah! there was this huge thing a while back that blocked out th' sun and made everything purple an' then it fell and it crushed out hideout! Maybe there's somethin' in th' mess it left! [He's referring to an event where the Aethersphere fell. It's the closet thing to a ruin he can think of.]
19th-Aug-2009 06:06 pm (UTC)
[...That sounded really, really weird, Moses. But, uh, he'll try to refrain from commenting on that for now.]

Maybe. It'd be worth checking, at least. Even if we don't find any blastia, there's still a chance we'll find something else that could turn out to be useful. [Pity Dycroft itself landed in the ocean, because mun now has a mental image of the Red Wolves exploring that place stuck in her head. :| ]

Like treasure! [Moses' one-track mind strikes again. And damn our lack of ability to breath underwater. Stella could try.]
